Two pages added to the section of the Theatre of Dionysos in Athens.
Temples of Dionysos
http://mesogeia.net/athens/places/theatredionysos/templedionysos_en.html
In the area of the theatre there are two temples of Dionysos, one of the 6th century BC, and the other of the 4th century BC, but the older one was not really recognisable to me.
Collection of the statues and inscriptions found near the theatre.
http://mesogeia.net/athens/places/theatredionysos/statues_en.html
I don't remember to have seen this installation when I visited the site in 2002. It must have been built before the Olympic Games. Nicely arranged and very comprehensible. Well Done!
And some photos of the Plateia Syntagmatos (Syntagma Square or Constitutional Square).
http://mesogeia.net/athens/places/syntagma/syntagma_en.html
I heard that this area suffered a bomb attack in the last week. It is like to have terrorism in front of the Parliament House. Very worrying.
Weblog of The Gate to Greece. Mainly about Athens and Piraeus because I live here and especially about food because I love it.

Avogonyma, Chios
I added two pages on Avgonyma of Chios Island with 14 photos.
http://www.mesogeia.net/trip/xios/avgonyma_en.html
http://www.mesogeia.net/trip/xios/avgonyma2_en.html
It is not the most touristic of the Chian towns or villages, but is actually quite attractive. We ate quite well here, too.
I also translated some pages of the Theatre of Dionysos, Odeion of Herodes Atticus, and the Stoa of Eumenes in Athens. I took new photos in the last summer, and I will add them soon.

Nea Moni (Chios)
This weekend I uploaded 3 pages of the Nea Moni (New Monastery) of Chios.
http://www.mesogeia.net/trip/xios/neamoni1_en.html
http://www.mesogeia.net/trip/xios/neamoni2_en.html
http://www.mesogeia.net/trip/xios/neamoni3_en.html
Very much to my regret, we could not see almost anything of the Katholikon (the most important church in a monastery), because it was under restauration (details in my website). I just took it for granted it was open, but I was wrong; I should have called the Tourist Information before we decided to go to Chios (although the whole travel was enjoyable enough).
If any of you are planning to go there next summer and if one of your main purposes is to visit the monastery, check it beforehand.

Fortification of Chios and Karfas Beach
Over the weekend I added two new pages to the Chios section
1) The fortification of Chios (Byzantine- Crusader Period)
http://www.mesogeia.net/trip/xios/xioscastle_en.html
This time we did not really have time to investigate inside the old town (which is inside the fortification). There must remain some buildings of the Crusader era and some Ottoman monuments.
2) Karfas Beach
http://www.mesogeia.net/trip/xios/karfas_en.html
We asked at the Hotel where was the nearest beach from the town, and we were told this is it. Nothing exciting about it. It seemed to me a resort for wealthy European tourists.
And I added some hotel contacts to the Hotel page
http://www.mesogeia.net/trip/xios/xiosfiloxenia_en.html

4 Pages of Chios Town
I added 4 new pages to the section of Chios Town, also known as Chora (as many other central towns of the Greek islands).
It was a marvellous island where we would love to return. When we will have a chance to go to Lesvos, we will definitely stop again at Chios and see the rest of it that we did not see.

Nikopolis
http://www.mesogeia.net/trip/nikopolis/nikopolistop_en.html
I finished the section of Nikopolis.
I visited there with my husband 2 years and a half ago. It was one of the most baffling experiences that I had in Greece; many of the monuments were inaccessible, and there was no way of seeing famous mosaics. We could not even see the Victory Monument of Augustus (which is usually open, according to the local people).
Accordingly my photo archive is quite unsatisfactory.
If you plan to go there, phone them (the museum or the local tourist office) to check out what you can actually see there. You may be albe to find out particular days for the visitors!

http://www.mesogeia.net/athens/places/acropolis/acropolismus_en.html
I translated the section of the Acropolis archaeological museum. Some English words are still faulty, I guess, and I will correct them in these days; however you can start to enjoy the photos. ;)

First Step
I have a web site called Gate to Greece.
Creating this site, I encountered a problem in notifying new entries. Different from the blog or diary, normal web site does not show necessarity which page is new and if there are new additions.
In this blog, I will record all updates to my site, and other notices, and even some other notes.
